The Monthly Stitch: Miss Bossy finished

My Notes:
Material $2.99 (sale)
Pattern $1.00
Wash away wonder $6.99 (used about half) $3.50
Thread and Button on hand
Total $7.49!

You chose, this cute pattern and this cute, very hard to work with material. I love it now that it's done, but boy it was hard to work with. It frayed horribly, and was very slippery.

I ended up using Dritz Wash Away Wonder Tape to sew the neckline, cuffs and hem. It worked wonderful. It's just like basting, doesn't gum up or stick to your needle, which means you can sew right over it. Then it disappears when washed. Love it!

I did French seams on the sides and should have done the same for the sleeves, but I didn't. (I thought the surged seam would be ok. Its just that.....ok, not beautiful)

For the back closure I made a thread button loop. Which was a new technique for me and fun. Here is a great video on how to make one.

I love the way it hangs, and feels.

Rag Quilt

Papas pants used again.

I made this for my son about 5 years ago. He liked pirates, so I embroidered several different pirate designs on the jean material before sewing the whole thing together. I also used 7 blocks for his name.

The jean material I used was from jeans the whole family had worn.

The back side is flannel. It is sized for a double plus size bed. Very heavy, very warm and very fun to make.

Thanks for all your votes.

Make a Garment a Month: for March

I'm a member of monthly stitch. This months challenge was to let the members vote on what you will make from 3 choices. My first place vote was this cute little top from simplicity 1783.

Second runner up is this cute top from simplicity 1668. Top B. So I'll be sewing it for my March garment.

Well actually both, if I belong to two different blog groups, then I should do two different garments, right!?
